Art & poem by Norma Dixon, Canada

Epilogue for 911

ending your life in the
hands of a stranger
life was fleeting
no one came to them
images of utter desperation
encompassing the
furthest edges of despair
Twin Towers:
once reaching
elegantly towards the
heavens, now lost in
utter destruction.
Smoke-fog-fire hatred
Yet somehow about the diorama
of sunken human ashes appeared
Spirit and faith above
That Ground Zero.
Was it the fanning of the flames
of man's inhumanity to man
that now remains a requiem
for doubt amidst the faith
Survival: evidenced in service above self.
Three years later: we are moved, still questioning
Awaken us to hold fast in love and understanding.
